About Bansko

Bansko sits below the Pirin mountains, about two and a half hours' drive from Sofia airport. A gondola leaves from the edge of town for Banderishka Polyana, the hub of the ski area, and chairlifts carry on up to about 2,600 m. Most runs are red, so it suits intermediate and confident skiers, and beginners have a ski school and learning areas up the mountain.

In holiday weeks the morning queue for the gondola builds quickly, so go up early. After skiing, Bansko is the liveliest resort in Bulgaria: stone streets in the old town, traditional taverns and bars, and the hot pools in Banya village about ten minutes' drive away.

Good to know before you book

  • Prices are in euros, per person, for two adults sharing a double room.
  • Children, solo travellers, three to a room and groups: we'll send you a personal quote.
  • A stay that runs across two price periods is priced by the nights in each period.
  • The ski season depends on snow. In early December and late March, we'll check with you that the lifts are open before you book a ski package.
  • Lift passes and ski hire can't be refunded once booked.
  • Cancellation terms depend on the hotel and the dates. We'll send them with your quote, before you pay.
  • Prices are subject to availability at the time of booking.
